Canteen is supporting emerging chef talent.

First up, we are extremely happy to showcase our friend and the very talented
Farokh Talati with his night of Parsi delights at Canteen Spitalfields.

Persians who emigrated to India in the 8th century came to be known as Parsis and with them they brought their Persian ways of cooking, marrying it with the ingredients they found in their new home, India.

Farokh, formerly of The Fat Duck and Merchants Tavern, now rattling his pans at St John Bread and Wine, is road testing his favourite Parsi classics before launching
his own solo venture, Union Press.

The menu features delicious and unusual Parsi dishes that you probably won’t see in your local curry house, certainly not executed with as much skill and experience as
Chef Farokh.

Make the most of the fine weather this Summer with drinks in the sunshine and a bite to eat from our bigger and better bar snacks menu.

There’s new nibbles like cheese straws, crispy battered English squid and individual Dingley Dell pork pies, plus Canteen classics like our sausage roll with Bloody Mary ketchup.

Bring your friends and feast on our special sharing platter – fried buttermilk chicken sprinkled with rosemary salt, famous fish fingers, and a homemade Clarence Court scotch egg. All served with our very own lemon mayonnaise, piccalilli, and tartare sauce.

So head to our Great British Bar for the perfect snack to stop you feeling peckish whilst enjoying top tipples like bottled craft beers, great wines, and Kamm & Sons cocktails this Summer.

Enjoy Great British Food on the move at our Pop-up Canteen in Regent Street this Sunday 22nd June, as part of Transport for London’s Bus Cavalcade.

We’ll be serving our mighty new battered fish burger and chips, plus limited edition St. John’s Bakery doughnuts filled with our homemade raspberry jam, rich chocolate brownies and a selection of drinks.

You can find our Pop-up Canteen near Piccadilly Circus from 11:30am until 6pm, and entry to the Bus Cavalcade is free for all the family. Around 50 buses from the earliest horse-drawn model of the 1820s through to the latest New Routemasters will be on display for TfL’s Year of the Bus celebrations, along with a range of other family activities.

18.03.14 - CHEERS MUM!

Where would we be without our mums? They packed our school lunches, always baked our favourite cake on our birthday, and taught us that greens can be tasty too.

We know our mums deserve a big thank you. We bet yours does too.

So bring your family for a meal at Canteen this Mother’s Day, and we’ll have a chilled glass of Prosecco waiting for mum, with love from us.

Whether you’re joining us for Sunday Roast, afternoon tea, or a classic Canteen pie (with those tasty greens), mum can relax with a free glass of fizz. We’ll even take care of the washing up.
